What is the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society?

The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (IEEE-CIS) is a professional society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) focused on computational intelligence.

Computational intelligence is a subfield of artificial intelligence (AI) that deals with the design and development of intelligent algorithms and systems. It is a relatively new field that emerged in the early 1990s.

IEEE-CIS is one of the largest and most active societies of the IEEE. It has over 3,000 members in more than 100 countries.

IEEE-CIS sponsors or co-sponsors a number of conferences and workshops each year, including the flagship International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Games (CIG).

What are the society's objectives?

There are a number of objectives that society has for artificial intelligence. One is to create machines that can assist humans in their everyday lives. Additionally, society hopes that artificial intelligence will help us better understand and predict the behavior of other intelligent beings, both natural and artificial.

There are three main activities that societies use to engage with AI: research, development, and application.

Research is the process of learning about AI in order to build better algorithms and systems. This includes both theoretical work and empirical studies.

Development is the process of creating new AI technologies and applications. This includes both software development and hardware development.

Application is the process of using AI technologies to solve real-world problems. This includes both commercial applications and non-commercial applications.

What are the society's conferences?

The Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) is a nonprofit scientific society devoted to advancing the scientific understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and promoting its responsible use. AAAI also sponsors a number of conferences each year, including the flagship AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence.

The AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence is the premier international conference on AI. It attracts top researchers from around the world and features a wide range of topics on AI.

Other AAAI conferences include the Innovative Applications of Artificial Intelligence Conference, which focuses on AI applications, and the AAAI Symposium on Educational Advances in AI, which explores AI's impact on education.

AAAI also sponsors a number of workshops and tutorials at its conferences. These provide opportunities for researchers to present and discuss their work in a more informal setting.
